I really need to talk about this fucking image. It dawned on me that one of the biggest signs that we live in a rape culture is memes like these representative of an attitude that “not being a rapist” is a huge fucking deal. Yeah, it’s rad that you’re not a rapist, but holy shit, you low standards-having motherfucker, I’m not gonna pat you on the back for basic human decency. The fact that you think it’s an accomplishment just goes to show how fucking pervasive rape culture is.
And of course, the same dudes who will pat themselves on the back for not being rapists will deny that we live in a rape culture.
If we don’t live in a rape culture, then why do you not just take it for granted that you’re not supposed to rape? Marinate on that.
